MISSION

I strive to travel slowly, deliberately, and meaningfully. I believe it is our responsibility as travelers to educate ourselves on how to travel as respectfully as possible. I enjoy travel significantly more when I’m able to connect with locals and immerse myself into their culture and lifestyle. This is why I highly recommend traveling solo or living with a local family. If neither are possible, I recommend veering off of the typical tourist trail whenever you can. That’s where the real fun begins. While commercialized and marketed to the masses, travel is still a very rare and special privilege – one that we should never take for granted.

COUNTRIES VISITED

I’ve visited 25 countries, including: Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, South Korea, Sweden, Tanzania, Thailand, United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

I’ve visited 23 states, including: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia.

MISSION

I’m passionate about empowering women. For three semesters in college I interned for MEDIAGIRLS. I taught critical thinking skills to middle school girls and facilitated discussions on controversial media messaging. Together we created our own advertisements to empower women and combat sexist media messaging. For more information about MEDIAGIRLS, you can visit their website.

After graduating, I worked at a women’s clinic in Key West, Florida, where my passion for women’s rights and bodily autonomy grew.

Currently, I work as a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in the state of Florida, and I practice using a strengths-based feminist perspective that empowers women and men alike.

I believe that solo travel is one of the most empowering experiences that a person can have. I created this blog to inspire more women (and men) to try it.
